Hello
I have 5 bantams, 3 brood but 2 don't seem interested, they just lay daily.
I have heard that when a hen is broody she can be left in the nesting box and she will come right, I have also heard that I have to put her in a wire bottom cage.
I have 3 broody hens at the moment, they have been in wire bottom cages and in the nesting boxes. One is now entering her 4th week of being broody. She is in good health, so is obviously getting out the box (probably when I am in work) to eat and drink.
Is this length of time usual?
Thanks

its fine because it takes 3 weeks for a chick to hatch then the mom bird has to keep them warm for at least 2 weeks.
