I have an orpington that decided to go broody, so I gave her a clutch of eggs. She started with 8 eggs, now at 14 days she is down to 2. She has not been good at keeping the eggs under her. I will check on her and periodically there is an egg totally out from under her. She has managed to roll 2 eggs, up out of the nest, across the coop floor and down the ramp. somehow they didn't break. Candled them and only 1 had growth. I am so disappointed. She also managed to break a couple in the nest. I wish I had put eggs in the incubator at the same time she started sitting so I could give her some chicks. I will be surprised if any hatch. She is in a coop all by herself along side the rest of the chickens. Trying to come up with a plan to break her broodiness, if I am right and none hatch. I think it will be too late to buy chicks from the local farm store.

If she is this reckless setting on eggs all by herself I would not advise giving her chicks to brood. It may not end well.
