Broody hen question

I had a broody hen hatch only one egg. That was on Thursday of last week. Can I add a week old chick under her to give baby chick some friends

I believe so but I would get a second opinion.

I put some baby chicks in with some chicks my hen hatched and didn't have a problem. Put them under her at night and be nearby at first light in case she rejects them. If she does you will have to grow them out in a brooder. Good luck.

I found a Wilkie chick and a Cochin chick close to me that are the same age. One had been with a mama hen and the other was hatched using an incubator. Which chick should I get

I would get both but I kinda have a chicken obsession these days. If I could only get one I would probably go for the cochin. I just think they are pretty birds. My friend has a blue cochin and I have to get one. She looks like a little gray cloud.
