broody hen

Well, what we do is take the eggs at least once a day and throw our hens out of the nesting box. We have to do this every day with our silkies (so I'm not sure I would say we are really successful). With our other birds, they give up after about 2 weeks of this- just not our silly silkies

. Good luck!

Put her in a wire-bottomed cage so that her underside gets plenty of circulation to cool things off. After a few days, some will be broken, some take longer. If she's a Silkie, good luck, they can wait US out! Watch her when she leaves the cage, if she goes back to her broody spot, she's not broken and needs more time in solitary confinement.

The key is to cool off their under side gently and kindly.
