Buckeyes in Alaska

New to chickens but heard that Buckeyes were a gentle, winter-hardy breed (even in North Dakota). Last winter didn't turn out so well, here in the Interior. I would love to hear from other Buckeye owners and compare experiences.

I can't help with Buckeyes, but did you know there is a thread for Alaska in the "where am I where are you" section? They'd probably be able to help more specifically. I watch that thread periodically because Alaska is my #1 place to go on the rare occasions I get to go on vacation
