Buff orpington laying age

we have some buff orpington hens that are 18 weeks old now, their combs and wattles are bright red and also they are n and out the nest box moving straw around. we are thinking they are getting ready to lay.

They are, but be patient. Mine did not start laying until 23 weeks and I've been told that even that was a bit early for Buffs. Let us know when they do start to lay!

Ours started at around 21 weeks. I would give it a few more weeks

My Buff was the last of six different breeds to lay, I think she was about six months old before she started.
She's five now and prefers to be broody than lay eggs. Her last session lasted over four weeks.
