Burning smell in incubator

I have a burning smell in my DIY incubator does every other one smell like that when it is in use ?

Well something is probably wrong with your incubator. Maybe the lamp is too close to its sides resulting in burning them slowly. If it's just a burning smell and not a cooked egg smell I think your chicks are ok. Otherwise the position and strength of the lamp is frying them.. Maybe it's just the lamp itself. I suggest you change it with one that many people who've used DIY incubators suggest. Sorry for my bad English. Hope I helped a bit!!!

I know this thread is a little old, I just need to ask some questions. I ordered a new HHD Incubator, and was making sure everything ran smoothly, and I have a burning smell that comes from it. The smell kind of smells like burning toast, but it's brand new. Will the smell harm any of the eggs later on? It's coming from the heating element.
