Ended BYC's 2021 Spooktacular Halloween Hatch-Alongā€”Poultry Pecking Pumpkins Photo Contest

Y'all are a bad influence. I've been trying to quell my fall excitement and wait to buy pumpkins until halfway through the month so they don't rot. Practicality is boring.

Very cool idea for a contest! Our chickens usually get our leftover pumpkins. This summer our son decided to make a squash piƱata. Corkscrew into a butternut squash and hung from a tree branch.

It lasted as a few days as entertainment, but later I realized the mistake. My chickens learned to love butternut squash and now peck through the garden fence. Almost every winter squash this year has nibbles.
