my goose is slowing becoming a bit of a house pet so im thinking she will need a diaper

i know that you can buy diapers for geese but they seem a bit expensive so i was wondering if you think a regualar baby diaper would work well on a goose?

What you buy for a goose is a re-usable diaper harness with a pouch beneath the vent area. You put a piece of regular baby diaper in the pouch and change it regularly.

I don't think you can get a goose to wear a baby diaper - at least not for very long. But I would absolutely love to see you try!

Seriously, I think your goose will rip the diaper into little pieces, and I'm afraid she might accidentally swallow some of the material. That could be very harmful.

The diaper harness is made from sturdy gooseproof material. I've bought mine from www.thegoosesmother.com, but I found similar harnesses at www.indoorducks.com. Actually, the latter seems like the better choice, because the harnesses there are leak-proof. As soon as my goose is grown up, I will order a cuple of harnesses from there. I might even try the shoes, too, my poor little baby skids around a lot on my hardwood and tile floors.

she has a big coop that she sleeps in with the chickens and during the day she free ranges outside. when i said house pet i didn't mean she lives inside i just meant that sometimes during the day she will wander into the house for a visit.

Don't worry about the naysayers hon ((((hugs)))). I get this feedback all the time, either it's unhealthy for my geese or it's unhealthy for me. Pffft. You know, we ALL used to live outside in Nature, so that argument is bosh.

Your goose wants to be around you. She could give a toot about Nature, she wants food and safety and your companionship. She knows nothing else and wants nothing else.

My geese don't wear diapers, and they are welcome to come in for a visit. Naturally, that's when those big stinky seven poops happen. Could they just drop those clean little grass turds on my floor? Nooooooo. That's why I keep toilet paper rolls in every room. I don't have carpet (thank god).

I think there are some animals that would be instinctively very unhappy in captivity. The wolves and big cats, especially

. We are talking about domesticated animals though. Our domesticated geese have lost some of their instincts and even intelligence and become dependent upon us. It's our own darn fault too, so we are obligated to care for them after our breeding programs to make fatter, meatier geese that can't even fly. So allowing my beloved PETS to share my home is part of my job, IMHO. At least share the kitchen floor

I gotta keep the rest of it clean for the grandson and guests

Also if folks read the goosemothers website they would find out a goose that is only imprinted on humans think they are human. Nancy Townsend kepted 3 to 4 geese and ducks not only permanently inside and wearing diapers she and her husband also road in a Winabeggo (sp?) at some point year round. She even taught one to play piano!!!

Sydney if you want geese inside enjoy your babies inside and love them every minute.

Tomorrow I have a variance meeting to see if I can keep my geese. If unfavorable they will become inside geese and they will wear diapers. No one can tell me what I can keep in my house can they?

If you need a little help with patterns hollar! you can PM me anytime!

ive never heard of indoor ducks and they seem to have great products and cute fabric designs so i think i will order from them

any other links anyone knows of?

Nettie's stuff from Indoor Ducks is REALLY SUPER AWESOME. I'm such a fan. We got shoes for my rescued ducks to share, and they're made really well and keep the ducks from slipping everywhere.

She's perfected her products because she has several indoor ducks herself. We're getting a diaper harness soon and cannot wait.
