Can Non-Broody Hens "Adopt" Chicks**UPDATE**

OK, so my chicks are four weeks old now and my broody hen built up too many eggs while my brother was taking care of her.(I have been gone for a week or so)
I think all of the eggs are dead but I'm not sure. I will candle them tonight.
Anyway I will try to give the chicks to her tonight and I will update y'all.

Thanks
MW

Sorry about the late reply. It has been hectic around here.

Anyway, I think she accepted them.
I took a video of her with them the morning after I gave them to her. Here it is:

P.S. Only three of her eggs were alive so I'm incubating them right now.

Yes, About 10 pm.

All the chickens were asleep when I slipped them under her.

I have since then let them all outside into our yard.

It's nice to see a hen with chicks walk up to you in the grassy yard

There's six bantam cochins and one silkie.

I just bought an incubator so hopefully I'll be using info in this thread sometime on the near future.

@micah wotring Also, how long had she been broody? Just curious of the timing of everything for future reference ;)
