Can this work for a waterer too?

It could, so long as the hens are able to reach the water level comfortably. One potential problem is water becoming stagnant. Plus, algae and other scum may grow on the inside of the pipe and make it difficult to clean. However, it looks like an ingenious plan for sure!

Another question cody, did you seal it?

I have a cap for the botom end of the feeder so I can fill it from the top while the bottom is capped & then cap the top & take off the bottom cap, do you think that would work for this as well?

If you are worried about space, you can always try and use the rabbit waterers. People on here have had great success with them. Just make sure there is another water source available while they are learning to use it.

Thank you

I don't think a rabbit feeder wouldn't hold enough . . .

That gallon jug is neat, the more space I can save in the coop the better though. Right now I have 14 chickens, some are crowing though and once I figure out who, they're goners, so I do need something that will hold enough for 8+ birds.
