Can you make hen go broody?

I am wondering if I put eggs in the nesting box, will my cochin hen possibly go broody?

No.

Eggs in the nest box (or just use used golf balls) will encourage a hen to lay her eggs in there. She sees those eggs and thinks it must be an ok place.

However, it will not make her go broody.

She will go broody if she is a breed that is a broody type of breed (and occasionally if she isn't) but nothing can make her do it. A hen is just on her own time table.
