carpet grippers on top of fence to keep foxes climbing over?

If I stick carpet grippers all around the top of my 6 foot fence, will foxes be able to still climb over fence? Will they be able to manoeuvre between all the little nails at the top and still climb over without getting hurt? Surely they cannot be that agile?

It seems to me that a fox would not climb a fence 6 feet tall. It might focus on digging under.

The tack strips you mention will fail rather rapidly in the weather. If I wanted to install a barbed deterrent at the top of a fence, barbed wire would be hard to beat.
