Celery ?

I tried giving it to my 3 week olds and they all hid in the corner away from it.

I chop up the celery to small pieces, especially the strings. My girls don't like to floss, and I don't want to risk compacted crop.

I hang the celery core (?) in their brooder. It's mostly leaves and tender stalks.

I gave it to my now 2 month olds, they still don't seem to like it but at least they don't hide from it anymore.

I'm afraid to give my ladies celery. I've heard it can cause sour croup. We lost a rooster from sour croup. We think, we aren't sure really.

If you're concerned about the long, tougher fibers in the older stalks, you can always chop it up before you offer the celery or just use the leaves and young stalks. (There is a similar concern about feeding long grasses to chickens.) My hens never get the crunchy stalks because we eat them up first....

I always chop up all the vegetables. No problem with celery stalks.

Celery doesn't last with my birds. I'll hang a bunch in their fence, and they destroy it in a matter of hours.
