changing a bandage on a large wound on the back of my chick

how often does the bandage need to be changed.

How old is the bird, what type of injury is it, and what medications are you using? Did you take her to the vet at all or are you doing at home treatment?

one year old. she may have scratched herself on a wire bc it was a large wound that seemed to have gotten bigger and using silver and manuka honey packed in the wound with vetrap but it did not stay on. We isolated her from the rest. Home treatment only.

Most injuries on chickens are best left open to heal. I would apply the honey to the wound and keep it moist twice a day. Isolate her inside a dog crate with food and water, and a clean towel for bedding to keep it clean. If a bad odor develops or other signs of infection, you can use chlorhexidene and water to clean it.
