Hey everyone, we got 25 pullet chicks from McMurray Hatchery in their Ornamental Egg Layers mix. Can we get some help in ID'ing these pretty girls? I have additional pictures of each, but didn't want this original post to be a mile long. Any input is appreciated!

Chick 1 - Assuming this is a Buff or Buff Laced Polish?

Chick 2 - We have no idea on this girl. Any ideas?

Chick 3 - Another type of Polish maybe?

Chick 4 - Red Crested Polish maybe?

Chick 5 - We think these are White Crested Black Polish?

Chick 6 - Type of Phoenix? They have the line thru their eye that makes us think that.

Chick 7 - We think Black Polish

Chick 8 - Chicks 8 & 9 are very similar, just #9 is a bit lighter. We don't know what these girls are

Chick 9 - Lighter coloring of chick 8?

Chick 10 - McMurray throws in a free chick, and they say its almost always a rooster and it could be literally anything. We think Chick 10 might be that chick. Does this look like a cockerel, and any ideas what he/she is? I may start another thread with a few other pictures with wings spread out for this one (chick 8 was the only other one we only received 1 of, so it's possible its him, but since the coloring is so close to 9, we're thinking not...)

Possible ideas for #2:
Blue Andalusian, Mottled Houdan, Silver Polish, Lakenvelder
I don't think it's an Ancona (leg color is wrong).

For #8 and #9 I think they might be two different breeds, maybe one Buttercup and one Gold Penciled Hamburg. I'm not sure which is which, but as they grow those breeds would have different combs, so it would eventually become obvious.

#10 looks like a Fayoumi to me.

I think you are probably right about the various kinds of Polish.

Great feedback! A quick Google search and #10 does match an Egyptian Fayoumi. Can you sex those at a few days old by their wing feathers (or another means)?

For chick 6, there are quite a few breeds that can have chipmunk stripes like that.
Looking through McMurray's list of rare breeds, it could be:
Bielefelder (pullet only)
Brown Leghorn or Silver Leghorn (leg color looks wrong for those)
Cream Legbar (pullet only, and I think the leg color is wrong)
Dark Cornish (leg color looks wrong)
Dorking (would have an extra toe on the back of each foot)
Modern BB Red Game
Speckled Sussex
Silver Phoenix

If you have several chicks that look like this, they may be from different breeds, rather than all being the same. Checking comb type and leg color can help sort out some of those options, but some others would just have to grow up before they can be identified.

No, I would not expect to be able to sex Fayoumis at this age by any method except vent sexing (which the hatchery uses), or by sending a sample off for DNA testing (a few feathers or a drop of blood.)

But Fayoumis are known for maturing quickly, so you are likely to know sometime in the next month or two (unlike some slow-maturing breeds that can keep people guessing for quite a few months longer than that.)
