Chicken Breed Focus - Polish

Pics
I got my first polish about a month ago. It is about 4.5 weeks old and I'm not sure if i have a pullet or roo. What should i look for?
Me too! We have a bet going in our family which chick would eventually lay an egg first. The one I picked looks like it is developing a red wattle, but at 5 weeks I have no idea if it will be a rooster or hen.

Where did you buy them?
I bought my Silver Lace and White Crested Black at Tractor Supply.
I saw them in a large bin listed Variety Bantum Straight Run with tons of chicks that were just delivered to the store that early morning. They hadn't even eaten or had water yet. I just thought they were cute. I wish I would have picked four-eight of them now. Because now I have only two Polish that have to be completely separate from the Big Girls. RIR, EE'ers and a Sex Link.
I was new to this hobbie and didn't know any better. UGG.
But, I love them both anyway. Its a little more work but, it's all good. They are 10 weeks now and will finally sit on my lap or in my hand. I've been handling them many times a day since they hatched. I just trimmed the feathers around my Silver Lace eyes so she could see. That seemed to immediately settle her. She was flopping her head dress around trying to see and I think it was making her a little skiddish and aggravated trying to walk around. She sat still for me to use the sissors to trim her head dress around her eyes! Afterwards, she was cooing to me. I think she was happy she could see!

I think its a personal choice. I have no intentions of "showing" my birds so, I will continue to trim because I know how frustrating it is when I can't see. Plus, she seems much happier being able to walk around without constantly flipping her head dress around trying to increase her visual field. Heck, I even considered putting a little bow clip to hold her feathers out of her face. Lol
yea she's got some wild hair!!
