How long will a chicken sit on a egg to hatch it,the one we have is very aggressive,when you try to gwet near her,is that a clue that she is trying to hatch it,will she eat or get water at all while she is on the nest.

It takes about 21 days for a egg to full develop and hatch. Broody hens will spend most of their time in the nest, even sleeping on the nest instead of roosting with the flock. You may need to force her off the nest once a day to eat, drink and poo if she isn't getting up on her own.
