chicken panting?

my chicken constantly pants. she’s mostly indoors, living in my house with me because she can’t eat by herself (severe crossbeak), so i can’t imagine it has anything to do with heat. she’s definitely uncomfortable, and can’t settle down when she’s having these “episodes”. has anyone had the same issue? she’s worrying me

Have you checked her crop function?
Sadly, some birds with severe crossbeak also have internal defects that shorten their lives.

she has a vet appointment soon, and i’ll ask them if that’s a possibility. i hadn’t thought of that. thank you <3
