Hello all! On Wednesday evening our favorite chicken (mrs.tittlemouse, a factory egg farm reacue) was hopping around on one leg outside and we very quickly realized her leg was broken. From my best guess we are thinking that our potbellied pig, Jemimah, stepped on her by accident :(

Anyhow, I took her to the local avian vet and got the leg splinted, brought her inside and set her up in a pen and she laid a completely normal looking egg yesterday afternoon.

Today, I went in to check on her and she had laid this monstrosity (see picture below). At first I thought it was a lash egg, but it is not soft and seems completely formed. It has large divets in it and is very strangely shaped.

What could have caused this? Is it because of positioning? Stress? I am slightly concerned, but mostly just curious.

Thanks so much!

It very likely could be stress. You can give her vitamins and electrolytes to help with the stress from the injury.
These are usually not an issue unless they become a consistent occurrence.
