chickens abandoned chick??

our mama hen hatched 3 of 5 eggs we let her sit on, 2 were fine while the mamá left the nest with the healthy 2 and left a little one still hatching. it hasn't gotten as much warmth and barely got out of the shell, while the other 2 are puffy, this one is still wet and peeping. she refuses to return to the nest and I'm afraid the chick will die?

how can I care for it? what can I do to save it without mama stepping and killing him? help?

Rebbecka,

remember chickens cant count, get the little guy in and warm and dry, give him/her some electrolytes or at least some sugar water. tomorrow night when she's stronger slip it under mum when she's sleeping. I haven't had to do this but have read of other people doing it. for now thou that little one will be weak exhausted and cold, but they spring back amazingly after a day of tlc.
