Chickens are eating my daylillies...

Hi everyone!

My girls are eating my day lillies. I am not worried about the lillies, but will they hurt the girls? I shoe them off when they start to pick and tear, but I am a little concerned. They pick at my clematis too and I have a big wood cage around it. Is that bad for them too?

Any advice would be appreciated. I am getting ready to go to work now, so I will check back in later. Have a good night everybody!

In many nations daylily flowers are fried and served to eat, before they open. They say they taste like squash. The chickens may try something poisonous but usually will not come back for more. Your daylilys will suffer though. Chickens and flowers do not mix sigh! I have to fence my hens in to protect the yard and them. Gloria Jean
