Hey all, my two year old hen has been keeping her one eye mostly closed. This just started today. I’ve attached pictures if anyone has any suggestions. So far she seems to be eating and drinking fine. Hungry enough to steal a bug from another chickens mouth. She seems a tiny bit lethargic and I’ve seen her puff up maybe twice in the last hour but only for a few seconds each time.

Some possible useful information is that there are three newer chickens who seem to be setting up their spot in the pecking order all about six months of age who have been here since a week old, with one specific chicken gunning for the number two spot which is currently Shmoo’s(chicken with bad eye) . We also had HEAVY rainfall yesterday so not sure if it’s possible if rain hit her in the eye( they do have places to go when it rains like overhangs or inside the coop but you know chickens).

Picture info: first pic is her bad eye, second pic is both eyes frontal view, third pic is the bad eye again and fourth pic is the bad eye but open.

Any info or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

No, I would wait, it looks like she might have debris in it. I don't think you can put Neosporin in eyes.

@SmiYa0126 I was thinking more around the eye, after watching her more she seems to be lethargic and sleeping, right now shes up on the outside roost sleeping. Wondering if i should treat the whole flock? There has been some sneezing.

Give your sick hen some raw yolk. It's a busy of nutrition. Also if you can get some watermelon and give them some of the rinds with watermelon on it. It will also give some natural sugar and vitamin c
