Chicks and mealworms

It varies by the chicken keeper. In cases like this I often tell people to follow their gut instinct. Personally, I wait until they are a couple weeks old before feeding them scraps and treats.

Keep in mind that it is recommended that chickens have access to grit (or are able to free range for small rocks) if they are eating anything other than their crumble/pellet feed.

Was just wondering how young chicks can be when you can start giving them freeze dried mealworms? Thank you for your input.

Mine get live mealworms from 2 days old when their broody brings them out of the coop. Her behaviour makes clear that she thinks they are very good for her chicks, and they grow well on them.
