*CHICKS are HERE!!!* Egg Candling Pics: Progression Though Incubation

Pics
Thank you SO much for these photos. I am now going to invest in a high powered flashlight to candle mine. How bright is sufficient? I have brown eggs and blue.

Brown and blue eggs often have thick shells with heavy pigments thus making them very hard to candle. I like to say for average candling, as in your standard brown egg, if you can put the light up to the palm of your hand, and see your own veins, excelent! If you can't see though your hand, but can see though your finger, it should still work, but all you may see on darker brown and green eggs are shadows of air cells.

See though your finger is good:

See though your palm is ideal:

Uh oh, I can definitely not see through my hand at all with the flashlight I bought, darnit. I can sort of see through my fingers with it. It's an LED one, I thought it would be good. I'm going to run around and see if I can find any better flashlights hiding around the house.

I looked through a few eggs today, on day 2, and I saw some air sacs, and in one I saw a dark mass in the middle. Another looked like absolutely nothing but its still so early.

I also saw a lot of little spots in the shell, I read somewhere that can be a bacterial infection, but my egg shells look like your eggs shells so now I'm not so worried! *phew*
