Chicks from speckled hen

No, he's supposed to be solid black, however, he has inherited some genes that allowed his gold base color to show through the black. It's called incompletely melanised. Although it's very pretty, it isn't supposed to be there.

You got me there! I have no idea how to reliably breed that. He has several black siblings, but none have that pattern. He must have gotten all of theirs, too. Scout has some gold showing in streaks, as you know, but that didnt show up till much later, like perhaps 10 weeks old or older.
