A old time farmer (chicken raiser) came to get my rooster and noticed he had lice. I was shocked because I clean their coop and pen often so how could this happen? He said it is common and just sprinkle a dusting of Seven powder and i will be all set. Once again I had Seven because I kept it in case all my natural remedies failed in my garden I would use Seven as a last resort. Anyone ever hear of using Seven powder to kill lice on chickens? My chicks are 3 1/2 months old.

It's very common for people to use Sevin dust to clear lice in chickens so that's fine.....make sure they get a thorough dusting, right down to the base of the feathers, paying special attention to the area around the vent.

It doesn't really matter how clean you keep your coop, the lice are carried by wild birds and can be picked up from the environment at any time. You can put the sevin in your coop and pen to help prevent re-infestation.

Thanks so much. Next time I clean the coop i will dust it with seven.
