Chicks vent is sticking out

What should I do for it? It is about 3 weeks old.

It looks like it could be a prolapse. If so, try placing sugar on it and gently push it back in. The sugar will help with the swelling.
I have only seen a prolapse in older, laying birds (not mine) and other livestock. The sugar trick is common practice but I have never had to do it myself.
In other livestock and pets, if it doesn't stay put, the vet will suture it to the inside of the abdomen. Not sure you will want to go that route for chick or not.

Thanks. I put some Preparation H on a Q-tip and tried to push it back in but it pops right back out. The chick is eating and drinking normally.

It does have pasty butt too so I cleaned that up. Not sure why it has pasty butt. It is under a heat plate that's raised all the way up. It's on regular chick feed, water with vitamins and probiotics. No treats.

I believe you have to hold it in place for a little while. I would recommend trying a warm cloth fresh out of the dryer to try to keep the little peep settled and hold it in for a while with the Preparation H cream to see if it will stay. It may take a few tries. Good luck with your peep!
