Sorry , this is not chicken related , but I'm kinda at my wits end . When I was younger , I rode bulls ( for 10 years ) wasn't any good at it though . It seemed like every time I got bucked off , I landed on my head . I've been to 4 different chiropractors in 12 years and they have all taken x-rays of me . Each one finding more bones that have been broken in the past and healed over . One of them tried to get me to stop eating meat and take alfalfa pills , my current one wants me to lay on a pillow (small round one for my neck ) to correct the staightening in it that is going on ( I currently have a 15% curve in my neck ) he also found that I have a type of Z in my spine from the shoulder blades up , he says it's due to ligament damage . How is a pillow going to help all of this ? I work construction and had to call in sick today because my neck was so out of whack I was seeing double vision , no balance , could'nt turn my neck , and just wanted to blow my freakin' head off . It's been this bad off and on (more on than off ) for the past year . No over the counter pills help . I'm not the type to show ANY pain , but I've become so moody I don't even know WHO I am . I'm thinking of going to the regular doctor (haven't been since I broke my jaw in 99' 0 What do you guys think ?

I would go and see your doctor and get a referral to an orthopedic specialist. The medical industry is so specialized now that you really need to look around to find someone who can help you. I'm a physical anthropologist so I'm knowledgeable about bones but am by no means an expert. Overtime bones restructure themselves as a reaction to stress. After injuries the bones do this but sometimes its not for the best. The pillow should help restructure the bone and help build muscles in the area for support. This takes a while which can be a real pain. An orthopedist might be able to help you out and provide you with more immediate results; good luck.

I am assuming your chiropractor is recommending a neck roll pillow. It changes the angle of your head and pressure points on the neck and upper spine when you sleep. I have used one. 13 stable breaks to the spine from playing rodeo cowboy. Saddle bronc. It worked well for me, but did take some time and perseverance.

Have used a water filled pillow which helps also.

Pills will only help with pain and inflamation but will never cure the problem. So a combination of your regular doctor and the chiro is probably your best bet.

No , he gave me a home made one . Do you know those pool toys that are really long and floaty ? He cuts those down to about 12" and takes a groove out in the middle for your spine . Problem being I have a spot in the middle of my neck that brings me to my knees if you even think of touching it . so I guess what I'm getting at is , is it normal for that type of pain . When I'm brave enough I touch that spot and it's like something is growing on it ?? Little hard bubbles ?? I don't mind pain , just not the kind that makes you not be able to function . Pain let's you know you're still alive , right !!

Have you ever seen your xrays? Wondering if you compressed the vertebrae and have hard calcium spots now. They show up like little bright spots on the vertebrae xrays. Sounds like you need another more specialized opinion.

I have a spot similar to your description at T5. Good orthopedic intervention has made it far more livable.

Naw they never show them to you , just draw pictures like

Not scoliosis , just stupidity , although I would'nt change the experience for the world ! I was just kinda doubtfull on their get em' cracked , get em'out , move on to the next attitude . I don't like taking pills over the counter or not , but I'm kinda in a dilemma . I have 2 1/2 years until my apprenticeship is up . I can't take the hours off to "get fixed " until I'm a journeyman . Guess I need to find my zen .

Assembly line medicine at its best? I guess I was lucky in that I had a doctor that took the time went over xrays and options in detail.

Pick up some vidoes on basic thai chi? A habit I picked up along the way that I will NEVER quit. Keeps me moving and the spine aligned.
