I went out to the coop this morning and found one of my hens dead. Her comb and wattle was a reddish purple color and it looked like she had vomit in her mouth. Her crop was empty and they hadn't been fed for the day yet. It also looked like she had wood chips in her mouth but that could be from when she fell. She was healthy the day before so there were no signs leading up to this. Any answers to what might have caused this?

Sorry for our loss.
How old was she and what breed?
Does her body feel thin?

I'm not sure how old she was. I got her from a friend and we'd had her for a little over 6 months. She was a dark brahma. And she didn't feel thin, she felt healthy-- but obviously wasn't. Her body had kind of flattened because she was laying for so long before I found her.
