Cicadas: zip code + Emerging? Chicken Behavior? Any seen?

Hey, can we keep track of the emerging cicadas?

Noticed that chickens are congregating in areas they usual don't, e.g., compost pile, under large trees. I have NOT seen any cicadas, but I think their behavior is a bit odd. I have examined the dirt and have found no "holes" that would be evidence of "birth". Likewise, have not seen any bodies on trees, nor any cast-off exoskeletons.

My free ranging birds continue to investigate odd areas. I also have wooded areas of my property. I think I'll go have a look out there today, see what I find.

It's been very dry for a good month, barely enough rain to wet the surface of the soil only once.

Haven't heard or seen any in East TN. Was wondering today where are these cicadas at that are supposed to be here? There may be one more frost next week but I don't think so.

jher, I know what you mean. I have 7 acres which means I should have about 7 million on my property. Have yet to see one.
