Chirping
We have 11, 6 week old chicks and are wondering if anyone is able to ID them as pullets or cockerels. We live in town and are only allowed to keep 6 pullets/hens and don't want to keep cockerels on mistake.

No offense but why didn't you get autosexing or sexlink chick's if you can't have roosters? That way it's always a sure thing. We have 11, 6 week old chicks and are wondering if anyone is able to ID them as pullets or cockerels. Not speaking for OP, but I will say I grew up with chickens my entire life 30+ years, and it wasn’t until after I bought my first five for my own backyard that I learned about autosexing/sex links. Since our 12 year old daughter is homeschooled, and a farmer friend asked if she would like to hatch her own chicks, we said yes! She borrowed us her small incubator, and gave us some fertile eggs from her own chickens. It was a great experience, and teaching and learning opportunity for us all.No offense but why didn't you get autosexing or sexlink chick's if you can't have roosters? Wow, really. 8 years ago when I got my first flock and knew I didn't want roosters, I did my research and got 4 sexlinks. All of the retail farm stores have them.18 chickens later, still no roosters. I thought everyone could do the same. Not speaking for OP, but I will say I grew up with chickens my entire life 30+ years, and it wasn’t until after I bought my first five for my own backyard that I learned about autosexing/sex links. Ok, so another learning experience for her is you don't know what you will get when hatching chickens. And she will have to learn to part with them. maybe the farmer friend will take them.Since our 12 year old daughter is homeschooled, and a farmer friend asked if she would like to hatch her own chicks, we said yes! Yes she will take them back and we also have other places to go with the chicks we cannot keep, which are not our freezer. Will your friend take those cockerels back, or will you put them in your freezer? Best to start 'sifting' sooner, not later. They are all very cute though.
At six weeks, any larger red comb is a cockerel.
