We recently bought 6 bails of hay that are loaded with burs. We didn't realize until we broke them down and put them in the coop and pen. I have seen the chickens eating the burs and there doesn't seem to be any ill effects. I have read where the plant is poisoneous. After it has been bailed and dried in the hay, can it still kill our chickens.

I have no idea. My crazy chickens seem to think that buttercup is tasty. I have no idea why they eat it -- it's hardly the only green stuff around. But, they seem to be surviving just fine so it can't be that toxic.
