Come in from the rain!

Has anyone any stories of chickens not having the sense to get out of the rain? The pen door is open and the coop is lit and warm and dry. Why do they insist on hunkering down in the rain? We are going on a vacation in a few weeks so I need to know they will be okay if it rains while we're gone. The pen does not have a solid roof.

Chickens often stay out in the rain, especially if it's not pouring, and in hot weather. As long as they have a place to get in out of the rain if they want, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks. I thought it would be okay if they have all their feathers. I just didn't want them to get sick and since 4 are only 7 weeks old and 4 are 5 weeks, they still have a few gaps in their feather coverage. I do feel better, now. Thanks.
