Hi there. Thank you for letting me join your community. My husband and I recently moved to 5.5 acres outside the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and, after raising my kids, I am excited to finally start my mini "hobby" farm. We have 2 dogs and a cat and I thought chickens would be a good place to start with the farm animals. I bought an incubator and about a dozen Easter Eggers. I did research and that was how I found BYC. The first one hatched Easter Sunday and 2 more followed the next day. Sadly that seems to be all I was able to keep viable. However, I am hooked. I am off to buy more next week! Hopefully, I can figure out where I went wrong.

G'Day from down under Misfits&Mutts :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. There are a few under the Incubating Eggs & Raising Chicks banner that you might find useful.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also visit the Canadian Thread and pop in and say hello.
