Mobile coops do have their advantages, but I prefer stationary coops. It is virtually impossible to get a mobile coop completely predator proof without making it so heavy that it isn't mobile any more. Plus, most mobile coops I see are too small to comfortably house more than 4-6 chickens. Stationary coops are usually very secure and can be large enough to house many chickens.If you want the chickens to free range under supervision, all you have to do is let them out.
