converting playhouse

Hi, just wanted to hear from any others that tried this. We are converting a little tikes playhouse and live in NY so our winters can get bad. When doing this did you insulate? What about venting? I'm worried about having to cut threw 2 walls to do this. I checked YouTube, but only saw a few and 1/2 were in warmer climates. We were using a converted doghouse, but I don't feel its big enough and its a pita to clean out. Thanks in advance
