Yup, here's your crazy chicken lady question of the day!

I haven't been able to find anything on this (which is kind of surprising since it seems ya'll have covered EVERYTHING...)

Anyone have an opinion or seen any research on coop color affecting rate of egg laying? I know I've heard things like painting rooms in your home can stimulate emotions and actions - I wonder if it's true of chickens too?

My goal for interior paint has just been to capture as much light as possible, since I don't artificially light my coop, in the hopes of capturing the latest and earliest seasonal eggs I can.

Thoughts?

The chickens in my cream interior coop start laying earlier than the ones in the cinderblock stable. I did the same as you: a light colour to capture daylight and stimulate laying. They also have a window (otherwise there'd be no daylight to capture...).
