i was looking at using an old ddog run with chicken wire around the bottom would this work for a place to keep a few birds. it will have a roosting box in it. btw how high off the ground should the box be. now for the dum ? i read where some of you keep moving the runs to a place with grass . dose this have to be done are can it stay in one place even after the have killed all the grass off. i was looking at using cedar shaving for a ground cover will this work. thanks for the help

The dog run will work fine. I like my roost about 2-3 ft above the ground in most cases. Yes the pen can stay in one place all the time. Just rake it out every now and then. Do not use cedar as the off gas of the cedar can cause serious respiratory problems for the birds. Better to use pine or white wood but if it will get wet then don't use anything at all but the ground. I put crusher run sand in lots of my pens.
