Crop filled with fluid- not compacted! Help please.

We have a 2yr old RIR. Three days ago we noticed hrr comb a little purple. When we took her out to examine her, her crop was over extended with fluid/water. As I was palpating, she vomited most of it out. There wss nothing in it but water. We brought her inside and have been massaging several times a day with oil dribbled into hrr. There is never anything but water. Yesterday she ate some oilly scrambled egg, then when I picked her up she vomited fluid and the egg.
She is not eating(much) she has diarrhea. Her crop doesn't seem to be emptying at all but there is NOTHING in it but fluid. Could it be impacted further back?

Her crop may just be slow emptying from either a crop problem or from something else in her body. It isn't sour crop unless there is foul smelling fluid coming out of the crop. Slow crops can occur with many illnesses. Stop the oil, since she could choke on it if she vomits. Feed her vitamin and electrolyte water such as SaveAChick, Durvet, or Rooster Booster. Don't feed any whole grains. Give some plain yogurt and raw or soft egg. Massage it several time daily. Here is another good link to read:

There is no sour smell. Today she ate scrambled egg, some tiny bits of apple, some tiny bits of greens. These were recc by U of G Avian specialist last year when our Leghorn was recovering from an impaction. Mike the chick vet recc oil. I wonder if the impaction is further down. She has a normal # of poops and they are liquidy but with distinct white and green parts. Her crop just never seems to empty of fluids, how can she be pooping so much?

Could you prick her with a needle and suck to fluids out I don't know if you could or not but does any one else think about it

I am a vet tech and I would never put a needle into an unsedated chicken. I can vomit her, and have but there is nothing in her crop but liquid, no impactions. Some fluids must be going thru I think or else how could she continue pooping. We are planning tube 30 mls into her with anti-fungal and hope for the best. Our Leghorn was treated at U of G last year for an impaction and they treated as follows:
Flagyl, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory
Clauvasetin, antbiotic
Nystatin- anti fungal
Gavaging/tubing no more than 30 mls - 4 times a day if required and to add the drugs above.
Georgie recovered and has been great. Of course, Peabody's problem is not crop impaction?

I did not know if you could or not to suck the fluid out I like what you said about tubing her the 30 ml of anti fungal and hope for the best good luck hope it works

It sounds like you already have some good experience with crops, and I agree that I would not stick a needle into the crop for any reason. Perhaps the other poster was referring to draining fluid from the lower belly from ascites. Chickens don't need to be sedated for that or certain other procedures, especially since they can be very sensitive to drugs and painkillers. Tube feeding is very good to flush an impacted crop. Hopefully, you can figure out why her crop is not emptying. Two Crows and Casportpony have a lot of experience with crop problems. Worm loads, coccidiosis, Mareks disease, and other things can cause a sluggish crop.
