Curious about Peafowl

We have a blue pied male, a white male and 1 female. The female is in a pen with the blue pied and the white male is in a pen next to them. We would have liked to let them free range, but we tried that...we were told to keep the female penned and let the males out and they would stay around. Well, at that time we had 2 blue pied's and a black shoulder. the black shoulder and a blue pied took off across the street to a neighbor's house who has a lot of animals and a few months later the Alpha male blue pied took off too. He was gone for a year and then came back. My husband penned him back up with his wife

. We didn't want to lose him again! They don't seem very fragile we've had them for about 4 years and the other two are still living across the street. We had 2 other blue pied's that died of Bumblefoot (some type of avian disease that makes them lose their balance), and one was killed by a predator. They make a lot of noise in the Spring/Summer but not much in the fall and winter. Very low maintenance..in fact I find them kind of boring...not as social as the chickens. If you don't have neighbors it's fine. We are pretty isolated so no one complains.
