Out to pasture
I see quite a few movies a year, while critic's reviews are okay I prefer the opinions of friends/family. This thread is not meant to be a critique but, a poster's personal opinion. PLEASE do not include spoilers and definitely no pornographic films. I think we will be fine if we just start with titles and ratings if known ie., PG, PG-13. R etc.

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (R) big thumbs UP
Excellent performances and cast. Saw it twice.

SIDE EFFECTS (R) thumbs UP
ditto.
Saw it twice.

WARM BODIES (PG-13) thumbs UP
Funny, sweet, NOT your usual zombie movie.
Hope to see it again - I smiled all the way home.

You are welcome to offer your opinions on these movies IF you have seen them, and please list any other movies.

Yay Chicks you are so right re: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was one of my favorites. I hear they are thinking of a sequel.

Cluckcluckluke Yes - the Hobbit was very good. I especially like Bilbo and Thorin. Not so happy that they are stretching 2 more movies out of the very slim book. So it will be quite awhile before the big dragon fight.

We saw Maleficent: Mistress of Evil yesterday. I did not care for the first one but my wife loved it. To me Maleficent is the character from Sleeping Beauty, terrifying and evil. In the first movie they remake her from evil to misunderstood. Didn't like it. Her name is Maleficent, not Niceficent for crying out loud.

I hoped with the "mistress of evil" tag she might turn bad in this version. Alas it was not to be. Once I gave up on that, the movie was fine. Michelle Pfeiffer's performance as the new queen was quite fun. Overall I give it 3/5.

Last week we saw "Driving Madeleine" with sub titles - we both enjoyed it. Today we saw "Bob Marley: One Love" - could have used sub titles - even with hearing aids I struggled with the Jamaican accent. Interesting movie. Apparently after some research 'one love' is not appropriate for Marley as he had 3 children with his wife and 7 more with 7 different women. All this before his death from metastatic melanoma at the age of 36.

We just returned from seeing "Bohemian Rhapsody". It's been playing around here for a long time, but we just didn't think we would like it. (The Princess really.) If you like the music of Queen or even if you don't this is a movie to be seen. The actor who plays Freddy Mercury is great as is everyone in this film. We both give 4's on this film and really recommend seeing it.

Loved Star is Born, may need to buy it.
Really liked Mary Queen of Scots.
Liked The Favorite, but ended poorly.
Liked On the Basis of Sex but preferred the RBG documentary which I loved. Had no idea she is the person responsible for my being able to get a mortgage, no longer being the legal property of a husband (not in either but I’m giving her credit anyways), etc...
Won’t you be my Neighbor was really interesting.
I started watching Roma but was really s-l-o-w so gave up. And I usually don’t have a problem with slow movies. On Netflix not at a theater.
I saw Bohemian Rhapsody at a large historic theater (with a balcony). It was packed because it was a sing-along with lyrics to the songs on-screen. We were singing and clapping, etc... It was a blast and I loved the movie. Most of the audience were boomers so it was raucous in a good way.
