This is just a beautiful story. Your mother sounds a lot like my maw maw and paw paw.

They are 87 and 91 respectively and still live on their own. They don't want any pets because they have a hard time just getting around on occasion, but on Saturdays when I visit, if the weather is nice, I take a young chicken or two and while my paw paw and uncles and dad sit out in the yard talking the chickens will free range around their feet and my paw paw just lights up.

Thank you so much for the picture and update Sharon, it's nice knowing what a great home and wonderful caretaker the hens have. Tell your mom that I appreciate how good she is to them, and that I'm glad she enjoys having them.
