Day 21--I heard a peep!

This is day 21 for the 12 eggs under my boody hen. I haven't taken her off the eggs to check them since day 19. Last night I swear I heard a peep from under her. NOw nothing. My worst thought that is that one hatched and she smothered it. She hasn't moved. I want to check the eggs but don't want to disturb the temp and humidity under her. When they hatch (God willing)can I expect to see chicks or will she stay on them? She is about 2 1/2 feet from where I"m sitting so I will be tuned into this all day.
JUST HEARD ANOTHER PEEP!!
Should I check?

Leave her be. She's keeping the eggs that are close to hatching at the right temp and humidity. The little one you hear may not even be completely hatched.

I've had my hens hold tight for three days during the hatching process. When they do this I take the food and water to them to prevent dehydration. They'll growl and strike until the realize what it is and start diligently eating or drinking.
