I had 11 shipped eggs that were due July 8th
One was missing from the nest after about 10 days.
On July 6th there was one out of the nest that had been destroyed and had a chick in it.
One hatched July 7th and another on July 8th.

Today (July 9) my broody went outside with the 2 babies and left her nest. I know that she was on it around noon and at 4 she was outside.
The eggs were cool
I don't see any shaking or moving
I don't hear any peeping
They are dark with an air pocket (I candled them today)

I don't have an incubator so I have put the 7 remaining eggs in a box with pine shavings and a heating pad over them. The temp is around 100.

What should I do??????
How do I lay them in the box?
How long should I wait?
Is this normal?

I am by no means an expert but if it were me I would toss them. Broodies know their stuff and if she bailed out she must know that they are not going to work out.

Maybe someone else has a better idea or some experience with this...

Good luck!

I agree, they probably won't hatch, but you could leave them where they are for another day or two if you wish, if they don't smell bad. I think sometimes a broody leaves an egg that could hatch in order to care for the ones that have hatched, but I agree they do seem to know which ones are dead. I'd probably mist the pine chips a bit to keep it humid under there.
