Just picked up some silkies that came though the mail today. One seems to be hobbling and his leg is sticking out. Could it be broken? What can I do the help it?

Cute little chickie. I'm having a hard time viewing the pictures, (slow internet,) but it looks like splayed leg. It's usually fix-able. You can look up how to make a hobble.

I just googled and read about spraddle leg. I found direction on how to make a splint with elastic and straw will this work?

Not sure, haven't tried that way. What I've done is something like this:

Just take a band-aid or two, and pull the two legs together, making sure that the cotton area is against the legs, not the sticky stuff.
It's also called spraddle leg.

Thanks. I was wondering if you separated the chick after bracing the legs? It seems she can’t get around well at all. She just keeps tipping over. I did just hand feed her. Also how long did you keep the brace on?

I changed the hobble daily, and kept it on for about a week. You need to separate her if she's being bullied, otherwise not.
