Hi there! I am struggling on knowing what qualities to look for when keeping roosters for breeding stock. We are hoping to keep three to each have their own flock of hens. We have ... (Examples)

four Blue Laced and two Splash Wyandotte roosters in the line up. Size? Temperament? Loud crowers? What should I be focusing on? Some are aggressive, but is that a good quality for protection of their flock?

Generally you want to breed aggressiveness out of your stock. Next, you want to look for good shape; mass, tail, comb, ect.. Then you want to look for color correctness.

In my opinion, aggressive roosters are stupid. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. Even if they are aggressive to you, there is no guarantee that they will stand tall when a fox comes a calling.
