Defective Chicken

one of our chicks has quit laying. well not completly, she will lay a rubbery one every now and then but no good eggs. the other 4 are laying just fine. great eggs, strong shells. the defective chick will set on the nest for a long time, come out singing just like she laid an egg, but no egg. yesterday she laided the first egg in over a week, threw it away cause it was all wrinkled and soft. I figured if she was egg bound, she would probally be dead by now, but she just keeps going. she gets everyting to eat that the others do, just crappy eggs. anyone have any ideals. no we will not be having chicken soup, she is one or our babies, so she will just live, eat and be a chicken until she dies.

Have you tried supplying some crushed oyster shell? I just sprinkle it around the feeders every couple of days for my hens, when I see any soft eggs. That usually does the trick.

They have that and we feed laying feed with calcium. thanks
