My 12 laying pullets are in a 6 x 7 shed that I converted into a coop. I've been worrying about how to add onto the shed to accomodate the 14 chicks that are in my brooder next month when they turn 8 weeks old.

I wanted a way to build a wing onto my shed with a run below it that would be closed off from the big coop and run, until they are ready to be integrated.

I saw these boxed kits at a local building supply. The kit has all the hardware and instructions, then you buy the lumber in whatever size you want.

I like this design because I could enclose the bottom in hardware cloth for a run. I can make a door and ramp.in the floor of the top part. I can leave the walls as open mesh for hot days and make plywood panel walls to close it up with for winter. What do you think of it?

I don't know how to frame and build a shed without something like this to guide me.

Interesting. How much is the kit, and where did you see it?

The kits were at a farm and building supply called Sutherlands in Oklahoma. They ranged between $29 and $39. They didn't have this one so I'll ask them to order it.
