Do I have a rooster or hen?

This are my two new chickens. Unfortunatly its hard to tell what gender they are because their tails have been pecked. Would any of you know? They are around 17 weeks old.

I would say hen, but I'm not an expert...I think by then you would hear crowing if it was a rooster. Poor thing! her tail is completely gone!

here is another pictures that I didnt get a chance to put up before because I had to race out the door... im glad to here it looks like a hen. we had to take our lovely Australorp who turned out to be a rooster back.

and yes they do look funny with no tail!!

its because they were in a pen with other chickens that didnt have their beaks cut. now they are with two lovely isa brown who wouldnt harm them at all
